Performing in the Instrumental sections at the Royal South Street competitions is a musical highlight for our College musicians each year.
The Bands, String Orchestras and Small Ensemble sections were on Friday, September 1st through until Saturday September 9th. In these nine days of instrumental competition, Christian College had 12 large College ensembles and 25 small ensembles perform on the stage in Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat, equating to over 400 individual student performances!
Our most Senior ensembles performed in the highest divisions and our results were consistently outstanding, often exceeding the scores of many of Melbourne’s noted schools for Music.
Throughout the competition, our students experienced the challenges of performing on a stage in a huge theatre and to large audiences. They received critiques from expert adjudicators and many won prizes.
The Music staff regard this event as highly successful for all and see the experience as being significant for the students’ growth as musicians and performers. Congratulations to all students who took part in this year’s instrumental festival at the Royal South Street competitions.
From our youngest competitor in Year 3 through to our most experienced Year 12 musicians, we are proud of your work and the way you represented our College.
