There has been a great deal of commentary and debate about the introduction of a National Year 1 Literacy and Numeracy Test.
I have included the following link that provides a comprehensive outline of the facts concerning this decision:
While our students will continue to participate in these assessments, our College maintains our own broad range of assessments to capture the 'Learning That Matters'. This includes the wonderful creative, personal and spiritual gifts that each of our students possess. It is a good reminder to us all, particularly our Year 12 students preparing for their final exams, that a test or any measure taken are simply indicators. These do not define us.
The scripture that we focused on at this year's Staff Retreat from Paul's letter to the Ephesians: "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do", assures us of who we are and the plans that God has for us all.
I wish to thank all of those in our community for the wonderful contribution you have each made to a highly-successful Term 3 and I wish all students, staff members and families a safe and enjoyable holiday.
To those Cats or any other supporters with teams in the AFL finals, good luck for this weekend and for what may lie ahead.
But, more importantly, my prayers and best wishes to our Year 12 students for their final weeks of preparation. May you have a sense of God's peace from knowing that, while important, the exams that you are about to sit are not going to define who you are.
