Seasons for Growth - Education for Loss, Change and Grief

Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives.

At our College, we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce or related circumstances, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering a very successful educational program called 'Seasons for Growth' that will commence at the beginning of Term 4. The program caters for students in appropriate age groups, from eight to 18 years.

The Seasons for Growth Program is made up of a 45-minute session, once a week, over an eight-week period. The program then concludes with a ‘celebration’ session. For the group to run effectively, we need four to six participants in each particular age group.

The program is based on research that highlights the importance of social support and the need to learn new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The core intentions of the program are the development of resilience and emotional literacy to promote social and emotional wellbeing.

It focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem solving, decision making, effective communication and support networks. The program is educational in nature and does not provide therapy.

If you would like more information in how the program works, please visit the following website If you think your son or daughter would benefit from 'Seasons for Growth' we would encourage you to talk to him or her about this.

Should he or she decide to participate, please email Tim Blackhall (Chappy) with your expression of interest by Wednesday 11th October.

Kind regards,
