VCAL Student of the Week
VCAL Student of the Week - Tori Goulter (Year 12)
In Year 11 VCAL, I completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood and Education at the VFA as a school-based traineeship. My chosen career is in Childcare, and I am now studying a Diploma in Early Childhood and Development as part of my Year 12 VCAL. I love working with children and hope to become a Kindergarten teacher or a teacher that helps children who have learning difficulties. I might even one day travel overseas to educate children. Managing my Diploma and Year 12 studies has meant I attend the VFA two days a week and I come to school the other three days of the week. My latest placement was a three-week block. I worked with 2 to 3-year-olds, babies and pre-school children. There were many highlights of my work placement. I got to work with amazing educators and went on excursions. I also loved getting to know the children and learning some more Auslan. Next year I want to go to University to study a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Development as well as doing a course in Auslan sign language. My advice for anyone who wants to become an educator in early learning is to be passionate about it. Put in the hard work, as it is worth it and aim to have a positive impact on the children that you teach. My family motto is “What I do, I do with all my might.”
All of our students who have applied to do VET courses in 2018 have been accepted into their chosen courses. Students should have received emails regarding course information sessions now in progress. Details about these sessions are also available for viewing at the Student Office. Please make sure that your child is aware of when their session is on, so as to not miss important introductory information. Please be reminded that students need to study a VET course if undertaking a VCAL pathway in 2018.
