Sports News

It has been a busy start to Term 4 and, from next week, the Year 4 students will be commencing their Bike Education Program on Thursday, 26th October.

For each child to participate in the program they will require a bicycle in safe working order and an approved helmet that fits correctly and is in good condition. A bike and helmet safety check will be undertaken in the first week of the program and we ask for your cooperation in having any necessary repairs, adjustments or replacements made prior to this date.

Each child will wear their sports uniform for every practical riding session, which will take place on Thursdays. The attached form has been sent home with your child today and is to be signed and returned. Students can bring their bikes to school and leave them in the Gym from next Monday, 23rd October.

The ‘Jason Mahoney’ Bike Ride is scheduled for Thursday, 30th November. We will have extra staff members coming on the day. If any parent or guardian would like to assist on the day, could you please email me – n.rice@ccg.vic.edu.au.

Any volunteers will need to have a Working With Children Check and have selected Christian College Junior School Belmont as a place for volunteering. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate sending these through.

Western Metropolitan Track and Field Event

On Tuesday, 17th October, two students from Junior School participated in the Western Metropolitan Region Track and Field event at Keilor Park. Jaidyn Anderson participated in the High Jump event clearing 1.15m, finishing 9th and Charlize Duck competed in the Long Jump, leaping 2.79m to finish just outside the top 10.

I would like to congratulate both girls making it to the fourth levels of Athletics. It was a great learning experience for both girls. Thank you to the parents who were able to transport the students on the day.

Mr Nick Rice

Physical Education and Sports Coordinator
