Victorian Model Solar Vehicle Challenge

On Sunday, 22nd October 22, a group of 14 students from Years 5 to 7 attended the Victorian Model Solar Vehicle Challenge at Scienceworks.

The event was the culmination of a term’s worth of work by the students at Lunchtimes to design, build, test and refine their boats. Although cloudy conditions prevailed most of the day, the boats performed extremely well, with several making it deep into the knockout rounds.

The boat designed and built by Ruby Lockman, Abbey Hodgson and Kirrily McConachy finished 4th overall in the Regional Competition. They also received an award for the best use of materials in the construction of their boat. I congratulate all students on their involvement in the program over the course of Term 3. Many are already planning their boats for next year’s program!
