Playing Games in Science - Year 9
This week the Year 9 students imagined they were a molecule of Nitrogen.
They played a game of 'Chance' that sent them on different trips around the Nitrogen cycle. It was a fun and interactive way of learning some of the trickier aspects of nutrients cycling through the environment. Even though the game focused on Nitrogen, we were able to make links to prior learning about the Carbon cycle and the Water cycle.
Students were able to identify different locations such as in plants, the atmosphere and in bodies of water - where two or all three of the cycles interacted. Of course, the bigger picture message is that everything on this planet must be in balance so we can live in harmony.
