House Cooking at Senior School
The brief for the House Cooking Competition this year was 'Brunch', including a superfood and at least one ingredient that the first letter is the same as the first letter of the House.
All of the Houses put their best chef's foot forward to compete live with a preparation time of 20 minutes and a cook time of 20 minutes. All Houses decorated their kitchen-marquee well to reflect their House spirit. Every House is to be congratulated on the thought processes and effort they put into competing on the day.
Taylor House captured the judge’s attention by producing a very healthy meal with an incredible appearance. The garnishes were great and the team explained the meal brilliantly. Overall, this was a complex, fantastic meal that both food judges awarded a perfect score. A big thank you to Annemarie Platt - our kitchen presentation and clean up judge.
In addition, we would also like to thanks our food judges, Susan Strong and Andy Leigh, for their time, professional approach and feedback to the contestants. Andy is a former students of our College (2008), who now has his own boutique wine store and bar in Geelong called Union Street Wine Bar.
This was a superb team effort all round, and the Taylor House team was a very worthy winner for 2017.
