Year 1 Swimming Success

Excitement was in the air last Friday as the Year 1 students set off for their first Swimming lesson.

The bus trip to the Middle School Campus, active team games and the trying on of swimming attire all added to the enjoyment. With Summer just around the corner, it is certainly timely that the students develop some essential swimming skills.

When asked about the importance of swimming lessons, Daniel (1B) replied: “So we can get fit, strong and healthy”. Nate (1B) said: “So I can swim well when I’m at the beach”. Mr Rice was clearly impressed by the standard of freestyle swimming and commented on the great attitude he saw, as all students tried their best in the pool. The students got a small taste of what is to come at the end-of-term Swimming Carnival, as they enjoyed Relay races and ball games.

When asked about starting swimming lessons, Joash (1B) responded with: “I had lots of fun playing with my friends”. Illyria (1B) commented on this also, adding: “I got to try my best at freestyle on my first day”.

Stay tuned for swimming updates from the children as they progress in their skills with the guidance of fantastic teachers.
