From The Head of Senior School
Tuesday, 7th November - Orientation Day
A reminder that Tuesday, 7th November is our whole College 'Orientation Day'. At Senior School, we will be hosting the current Year 9 students who will be joining us next year. Current Year 10 and 11 students are not required to attend school.
The VCAA examinations commenced on Wednesday with English, and the students were generally pleased with the paper. It is always an anxious moment for the students being their first exam, but you could see a huge sense of relief afterwards. The examinations are scattered over the next few weeks and the Indonesian and Japanese papers are normally the final exams on Wednesday, 22nd November. Students are to wear their normal school uniform for these exams, with boys clean-shaven.
We believe the normal routine will be of benefit to them all.
The annual Barmah River trip left on Wednesday, with the Year 10 students most excited. The second group departs next Wednesday. This is a well-established trip and the dedicated staff ensure our students will be challenged and able to use their acquired skills.
We look forward to hearing of their adventures upon their return.
The process to select the 2018 College and House Prefects has been completed, with emails sent recently and we are very happy with the final group. It was a very difficult process with so many excellent students applying. There are many deserving students who we just could not fit into the set number of positions.
We acknowledge that some students will be disappointment, and the opportunity is there to seek feedback from me. To those who were chosen, this is not a reward but an opportunity to serve. Your work is ahead of you. We see leadership at our College as serving our community through your faith; whether it be on our campus, other campuses or outside our College.
The Blue Blazer represents those who have gone before you, as well as the values of our College. The Prefects will also be representing their families and themselves. They will undertake Prefects Training on Thursday, 30th November and Friday, 1st December.
Year 10 Social
What a great night had by all last Friday at the Year 10 Social! I wish to thank those involved in pulling it all together and for the Year 10 students who attended and boogied the night away. I wish to thank Ms Kim Doherty and Paul Breguet, the Year 10 Coordinators, for all of their hard work in organising this event.
State Baseball Selection
Connor Hickey of Year 10 was selected in the Victorian Blue Baseball Team to go to Sydney for the Australian Under-16 Championships in January. This is a great achievement. Connor is an elite Baseballer who is working hard to play overseas.
We wish him all the best for his training leading up to the Championships.
