Prep Under Construction!

Play based investigation sessions allow our Preps to engage in open-ended, exploratory and creative play, which provides real, relevant and meaningful learning opportunities!

As the Preps develop Literacy and Numeracy skills throughout the year, these become more embedded and emergent throughout their play. Children develop knowledge and understandings through hands on creating.

Therefore, construction experiences form an integral part of our play based investigation sessions. The use of tools, building and constructing, taking responsibility, planning, designing and linking creations to Literacy and Numeracy are some of the skills developed.

Fine motor skills, as they manipulate objects and loose parts, oral language, as they work alongside each other, problem-solving, perseverance and lateral thinking are all promoted during construction experiences.
