This year in Year 7 'Pleasure Reading', we have encouraged students to widen their reading tastes by participating in a competition called 'Reading Outside the Box'.
Students were given a range of topics and genres to read and then record their progress in a grid. Some of the choices included a graphic novel, a memoir, a book with a number in the title, a book published this year, historical fiction, and so on.
Congratulations to the following students for completing the competition and showing great perseverance - an important BLP muscle! Each of these students have been presented with a gift voucher from Dymocks. Congratulations to Taj Cormick, Bethany Dean, Andrew Giofches and Sukaina Al-Saabary
Taj Cormick from 7Y offered this reflection:
‘If you persist with something it is easy. I have never really liked reading but now I do, especially dystopian science fiction."
Taj’s favourite book this year was 'Gregor the Overlander' by Suzanne Collins and he has big plans to read 'The Hunger Games' and 'Escape From Mr Lemoncello’s Library' over the summer break.
