Christian College Instrumental Music Program – Opportunities and Information

The Christian College Instrumental Music Program ‘swings’ into action next week!

THE COLLEGE ENSEMBLE PROGRAM

All Ensembles will commence rehearsing next week. Please find the ‘All campus rehearsal schedule’ attached for your reference. Families may be interested to see the vast array of opportunities available to students on this schedule. Students who wish to join ensembles are very welcome to approach their classroom/campus music teachers to discuss what opportunities are available to them.  Families are also welcome to direct queries to music.admin@ccg.vic.edu.au or to one of the directors of music Andrew Dunlop a.dunlop@ccg.vic.edu.au or Fiona Gardner f.gardner@ccg.vic.edu.au

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS

The College offers private tuition on a wide range of instruments; please find the details and application form for music lessons attached. Students can commence learning an instrument at any time throughout the year.

STUDENTS WHO WISH TO TRY AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME

An exciting opportunity exists for students from the Bellarine Campus, Junior School - Belmont and Middle School - Highton to try a wind or orchestral string instrument. Students and families from these campuses are being invited to attend an instrument ‘Try Out’ session next Thursday February 8th in the Middle School - Highton Chapel at either 4.00pm, 5.00pm or 6.00pm. At these sessions families and students will be able to meet and discuss the many opportunities in music at Christian College with staff, listen to demonstrations of the instruments and have a ‘hands-on’ opportunity to try the instruments. From this experience, students may then register for three free trial lessons on a chosen wind or orchestral string instrument.

There is no need for families to book/register to attend, just come along!

The instruments being demonstrated and trialled for these sessions are:

  • Woodwind – Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon.
  • Brass – Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba.
  • Strings - Violin, Cello, Double Bass.

The music staff look forward to working with students across the college and presenting great opportunities in music performance in 2018.
