Welcome to Year 5!

What an excellent start to the year we have had! Our new Middle School students say some of their favourite things they have experienced are, having new subjects, meeting new people and the big spaces outside.

Friday morning the Year 5 students enjoyed a games session with their Year 9 Mentors while parents and teachers were able to have a ‘cuppa’ and catch up. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time with their mentors, building relationships and developing collaborating and listening skills through the activities they participated in. It was lovely for the Year 5 Homeroom teachers to catch up with families, answer any questions and celebrate the student’s smooth transition this week.

There is another opportunity for parents to attend a 'Parent Meet and Greet' on Monday the 12th of February at 8:45am - 9:10am in the Middle School - Highton Sports and Aquatic Center (SAC). Year 5 students are to head straight to the SAC with their bag on this morning and are to wear Sports Uniform.

Next Wednesday 7th February is our Year 5 Chilli Challenge Day! This day aims to orientate the students a little more with the school grounds, teachers and the learning they will participate in this year. The activities will range from challenging thinking tasks to physical activities including games, music and art tasks. In many of the activities, students will be invited to take on an extra ‘chilli challenge’ to provide them with an opportunity to take risks outside of their comfort zones.

Students are invited to stay after school for some extra activities and then conclude the day with a BBQ with their families and teachers. Parents are invited from 5pm until the conclusion of the day at 6pm.
