Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Tuesday

As a part of our Christian Studies and in preparation for the Easter Season the students will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday on the 13th of February. Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. The thought behind eating pancakes is to get rid of any indulgences and fatty foods in the house before the beginning of Lent. Traditionally, pancakes were eaten on this day to use up these foods before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began.

As a class we will be making pancakes to enjoy at recess. We will have maple syrup or jam to put on the pancakes.

If there are any ingredients that you would prefer your child to avoid please let me know ASAP.
