Measurement in Year 3

We have had a fantastic start to our Numeracy program in Year 3 with the students engaging in hands on activities to explore the units of measurement.

Week 1 saw our students experimenting with various ways of estimating and measuring the volume and capacity of different sized containers. We even had the opportunity to use coloured water outside in the warm weather.

“The tallest container isn’t always the one that holds the most.” – Edward (3G)

Week 2 saw the students hefting and weighing different objects wrapped up in wrapping paper. The students all enjoyed unwrapping them at the end to find out which object weighed the most.

“A scientist needs to weigh things in milligrams because they have to be very careful to be correct” –
Paul (3G)
