On behalf of the College community we wish to acknowledge and congratulate the following students on their sporting achievements over the past two months. These performances coincide with Jakara Anthony’s (2016 College Graduate) selection in the Australian team at the Pyeong Chang Olympic Winter Games. Jakara will be competing in the Freestyle Skiing (moguls) event at these Games.
On the back of some excellent State and Vic Country swimming performances the following students have all qualified for the National Age Swimming Championships to be held in April – Max Piroch (Yr11), Dylan Logan (Yr9), Madison Cooper (Yr8), Luka Mathe (Yr8), Nicole Briscoe (Yr7), James Logan (Yr6). Further, we wish to acknowledge the performances of Madison and Dylan at the Pacific School Swimming Championships held last December. Dylan’s performances in the pool were rewarded with a gold, three silver and two bronze medals, whilst Madison had a number of top ten (Finals) results at these Championships. Madison competed at the Vic Country Championships winning four gold medals and was awarded the Dr Rob Godfrey Memorial Trophy for the most Outstanding 13/Under swimmer at these Championships. Dylan and his brother James competed at the 18th Australian Deaf Games in January where they each performed with distinction, resulting in five silver medals for James and four gold, two silver and two new Game’s records for Dylan. These are great performances from our students, and we look forward to celebrating their aquatic skills at our House Swimming Carnivals and Inter-school Swimming Championships this term.
Kade Leigh (Yr7) was selected in the State Primary Hockey team which competed at the National Championships last December. Kade’s skills and leadership qualities were acknowledged with his selection as the team’s Captain, which is a fantastic achievement to lead your State team. Kade and his teammates were very competitive at these Championships finishing with a silver medal as a result of their performances.
The College is extremely proud of these past and present students, and we wish them all the very best for their future competitions and involvement in their chosen sports.
