From the Head of Senior School
We have completed week 2 and the campus is full of activity. Classes are full of engagement and the students have settled into a routine. The Year 12 students have Independent Study Periods (ISPs) in which they independently complete their work. While the home work as such may be completed then, it is important that parents and guardians understand the importance of home learning. To just complete the set homework does not ensure mastery of that topic or section. Home learning is when students undertake extension or revision work to get to that mastery level. This will require initiative from the student and input from their teacher.
Welcome to Senior School Evening
The Welcome to Senior School Evening is on Tuesday 13th February in the Penman Quad from 7.00 pm. This is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s house group teacher. This person plays an important role in the life of your son or daughter. They are the first point of contact when there is a concern. All subject teachers will also be present so you will be able to meet them and see how they have settled in. The Year Level Co-ordinators and Heads of House will be available and it is important to make these personal connections.
Year 10 Information Session: In the Chapel at about 7.10 pm the Year 10 Co-ordinators in Ms Kim Doherty and Mr Paul Breguet will be presenting an overview of the year and how you will be able to support your son or daughter. This will be a valuable session.
Debutante Ball Information Session: There will also be an information session for those students contemplating making their Debut. Here you will hear of the practice times, venues, costs, expected commitments and be able to ask questions. It will be held in the Chapel around 7.30 pm.
Year 10 Christian Education
One of the many great facets of the Senior School is the Jesus in the Modern World course. Here as part of their course, they visit the McKellar Centre and they commence this on Tuesday of next week. The students get to spend time with residents and it is such a rewarding experience for both parties.
Prefect Investiture and New Staff Induction
Thursday 15th February is our Prefect Investiture and Staff Induction at the Barrabool Hills Baptist Church from 11.40 am. The entire Senior School is present, as we see this is an important occasion for the Prefects and new staff. It is also very valuable for all students to witness before God, these good people who will lead them this year.
All students shall return to school for periods 5 and 6.
Parents and guests are welcome to attend.
