Year 9 Mentors Presentation
This week we had the pleasure of presenting the Year 9 Mentors with their badges at the Year 9 Assembly with the Year 5 students attending this important occasion. The Year 9 Mentor’s play a significant role in the transition program for the Year 5 students and are greatly appreciated by them.
Each of the four Year 5 Homerooms has eight Year 9 Mentors, who run programs and initiatives to help transition the Year 5's to Middle School. Programs include, School Tours, Year 5 Chilli Challenge Day, Parent Cuppa mornings and weekly devotions. Spending this time with the Year 5 students helps them to get to know the school grounds, feel more comfortable with the older students and offers a support person in the playground. With the Year 9's completing their last year at Middle School, they come with a wealth of experience, wisdom and knowledge to help the younger students in their new journey.
Year 5 students, Emma Daley and Lucy McKeegan spoke about their start with the mentors:
“It is amazing to have such kind and caring role models. I would like to say thank you to the Year 9 Mentors for stepping forward into this position.”
“Our Year 9 mentors this year have been so very kind and nurturing and getting to know them has been really enjoyable. This year, it will be great to know that we have such nice Mentors to help us in challenging times.”
We appreciate the time the Mentors have taken to help us at the start of a busy year and look forward to the fun and exciting times we have ahead with them.
