Japanese is a First in Prep!

The Prep children have started their very first year of learning Japanese with great excitement and enthusiasm.

Through singing songs and playing games, they are learning how to greet teachers and classmates, ask their names, and respond. They are also becoming familiar with Japanese customs such as bowing when greeting.

The Prep children are developing an understanding of what Japanese writing characters look like as well. We talked about Japanese writing being very different from English. They coloured in and traced over their names in Katakana, one of the Japanese writing styles, and copied them neatly.

It is a great pleasure to welcome the new Prep children to the journey of Japanese learning.
