Year 12 Studio Art students excursion to the Geelong Gallery

Last week our Year 12 Studio Art students were given a unique opportunity to visit the Geelong Gallery and view the ‘Kylie on Stage’ contemporary Pop culture exhibition.  The extensive array of costumes celebrate the magical moments from Kylie Minogue’s highly successful concert tours, drawn from her spectacular stage wardrobe. The work charts the development of Kylie’s ever-evolving stage persona and goes behind the scenes to explore the creative process behind each tour.

Geelong Gallery’s Education Officer Gail Frost talked to our students about the role of the curator, conservation of artworks and the management of this travelling exhibition.  It was a highly informative afternoon and gave our students an inside perspective of the arts industry. The students will draw from this content in preparation for their end of year examination.
