2018 Middle School House Swimming Carnival

On Thursday the Middle School student cohort ventured to Kardinia Aquatic Centre for their first official House competition for the year. All students entered in to the spirit of this competition, with some fancy costumes and plenty of voice and enthusiasm to support their House. Our House Swimming Carnival encourages all students to get involved in either the traditional stroke events, and/or the novelty swimming events. There were plenty of smiles and a fantastic level of participation across the day from all students. Our young Year 5 students enjoyed their first House Carnival, and are to be commended on their swimming and support of their respective Houses. We were able to appreciate the skills of our talented swimmers within our College, and as a result we will be seeing a number of these students representing our College at the GISSA Swimming Championships on the 14th March.

The ‘Novelty’ swimming competition was a hotly contested affair with many students enjoying the opportunity to represent their House. In the end it was Burrows who came out on top for the second consecutive year. Flynn were 2nd, with Penman 3rd and Taylor 4th.

Congratulations to all our students, and a huge thank you to our Year 9 House Captains for their support and leadership on the day. After multiple individual swimming races, and the relay events at the end of the program the final result was Penman 1st, Burrows 2nd, Flynn 3rd and Taylor 4th.

Thank you to all staff, students and parents for your support of the House Swimming Carnival, and we look forward now to the House Athletics Carnival at the end of this term.
