Year 3 Music

The Year 3 students received their new recorders earlier this term. We have looked at the five types of recorders - sopranino, descant, treble and bass. Parts of the recorder: head, middle and foot joint and fingering: left and right hands. The students have discovered how the recorder produces a sound from a vibrating column of air.
They have also explored the history of the recorder back to the year 1150 and discovered how King Henry the 8th played and composed music for the recorder as well as Bach & Handel.

Our first introductory songs are ‘Rockin' Recorders’, ‘Recorderton’, ‘Hot Cross Buns’ and ‘Swag in the Bag’.
