Senior School Athletics Program

Senior School House Athletics Carnival

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Senior School House Athletic Carnival will be held at the Christian College Middle School on Thursday 22nd March.

Since moving this event to Middle School, it has enabled us to include extra events, to involve a wider section of the school community. In addition to the traditional track & field events, students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of novelty events.

Students are to arrive at Middle School for a 9.00am start, names will be marked in House Groups before the day begins. Students will be dismissed from the Middle School at 3.15pm. Bus travellers will catch buses from the Middle School bus area. We ask parents who are collecting their child by car to negotiate a collection point. Parking will be at a premium around the campus therefore we suggest meeting your son / daughter in South Valley Road, Thornhill Road or in the Senior School car park.

All students are encouraged to enter into the ‘spirit’ of this House Carnival by incorporating House coloured clothing with their sports uniform. Students must wear their correct House Polo shirt to compete in on the day. A “best dressed” competition is being held and will provide further opportunity to gain house points. Athletic shorts and spikes are permitted. Please ensure all gear is marked clearly with name and House Group.

Athletic and novelty events do involve some risks of physical injury. Every effort will be made to minimise these risks. A qualified first aid person will be attending the championships to assist with any injuries that may occur on the day.

If the weather is inclement a decision on whether the Athletic Carnival proceeds will be made early in the day. If postponed a note will be posted on the online daily bulletin and normal classes will operate.

The results from this Carnival will be used to assist in the selection of the College Athletics team to compete at the GISSA Athletics Championships on Tuesday 1st  May. Students unable to participate due to injury / illness must notify their Head of House prior to the day of the event. Injured students can be involved as novelty officials, administration assistants or catering assistants.

A copy of the Athletics program is attached to this letter for your information.

Yours sincerely,

Drew Oliver
