Welcome back to Term 2 of 2018. It was wonderful to see the excitement on the faces of the students and feel the warmth of friendships reconnected after the Easter break. At our first assembly this year we were encouraged by Mr McKeeman to “Dream Big”, to consider that all things are possible and to think about what we were going to ‘dream big’ about. At the assembly on Tuesday we were able to see evidence of what it is to dream big as we shared some time with former Christian College student and Winter Olympian Jakara Anthony. Jakara shared with the students that she identified her dream, to be a Mogul skier at the Winter Olympics, when she was a Junior School student at the Bellarine Campus. Then in January 2015, at 16 years of age, she made her World Cup debut and this year Jakara placed 4thin PyeongChang in the Mogul skiing event. Jakara shared with the students some of her journey, which involved having a growth mindset, being resilient in the face of failure, the need for determination and hard work, being persistent and having a strong commitment. Students enthusiastically watched Jakara’s performance and she generously gave of her time to speak with students. This term we continue to encourage all of our students to “Dream Big” and see the possibilities.
