Interschool Chess Competition

On Thursday of this week, our campus played host to the Regional Interschool Chess Competition. Students from schools around Geelong and the wider area gathered in our Sports and Aquatic Centre to put their strategy and skills to the test in numerous games of chess. Students competed in both individual and team categories, and throughout the day, anticipation built towards the championship match, in which the two strongest players of the event fought it out in front of an interested crowd. In addition to a number of Middle School – Highton representatives, our special guests were the students from our Junior Campus, who proudly represented the College and themselves, competing with enthusiasm and excellent spirit. More events will be held at various schools around Geelong through the year and any students interested in taking up chess and potentially having some formal lessons are invited to meet with our friendly library staff who can provide more details.

Mr Adam Kennedy

Deputy Head of Campus
