Japanese Excursion to Melbourne - Year 9
In Term 2, Bellarine Campus Year 9 Japanese students are required to complete a written and spoken study assessment about an imaginary travel itinerary to Japan. To enhance student learning, this week the students visited both the Japanese Consulate and Japan’s JTB travel agency in Melbourne to participate in seminars about places to visit and things to do in Japan.
Our students were especially fortunate to visit JTB and receive a special tourism presentation from two staff, Bethany Clarke and Georgia Jones, who are Christian College Geelong graduates (See photo). Our graduates were also able to explain to our students how they came to have careers that use Japanese language and the benefits of participating in the various exchange programs that our schools offers to Senior School students.
Many thanks to Yukari-sensei and Mr. Rob Moore for their support of this excursion. In the short-term, I am looking forward to how the students incorporate their excursion experiences into their upcoming assessment task. In the long-term, it is hoped that the excursion contributes to greater student engagement with their study of Japanese.
