Geelong Botanical Gardens Excursion

The excitement was in the air as we put on our plastic pants, zipped up our sports coats and boarded the school bus.

We were off to spend the day with the preps from Junior School at the Geelong Botanic Gardens. Upon our arrival we spent time learning about how to use our ‘noses’ to explore the Garden. It was then time to put our ‘noses’ to the test. We found so many leaves and flowers that have distinct smells, some really nice and others that weren’t that great.  We realised that everyone’s sense of smell is different.  We then collected items that we liked the smell of and made our own ‘smelly’ bag to take home. After lunch we wandered through the gardens admiring all of the beautiful plants and trees while completing a treasure hunt.

Then it was time to say goodbye to our friends from Junior School and we headed back to the Surf Coast.
