This week in Art the preps at Surf Coast have been learning about Aboriginal art.

We have learnt how Aborigines made paint, what their artworks are based on, and why these artworks are such an important part of Aboriginal and Australian culture.

The students experimented with using the dotting technique to create a painting based on either a lizard, snake or turtle. They mixed their own earthy tones for a more authentic look and used line and pattern to map out a detailed design around their chosen animal.

Next week we will begin exploring the process of printmaking.
