Year 8s ‘Rock Up’ to Bells Beach
Year 8 Science students have been investigating the geological history of our precious and unique Surf Coast, both on campus in their Science lab, and during their visit this week to Point Roadknight and iconic ‘Southside’ at Bells Beach. Through exploring the natural processes of the rock cycle, including how rocks are formed and change over time, these young geologists are developing their understanding of the natural world around them today. Furthermore, they are building their own connection to the history of our planet and considering their own place within our changing world. This week’s excursion has allowed the students to link scientific theory to real-world experiences, a pivotal element of deep learning. They will next complete their Geology investigation by applying their new learning to their class work, before revisiting these concepts on their GEOS camp in Semester 2. Rock on!
