7 for 7

This Term our Year 7 students have commenced the 7 for 7 program. The 7 for 7 program is optional and student-driven with opportunities for students to engage in serving their community, personal development and leadership. The title ‘7 for 7’ originated from ‘7 activities for Year 7 development’, as we encourage students to strive to complete seven activities to either help serve in the community or to help them develop skills for the future.

There are example activities posted in each classroom to provide students with ideas but other tasks are encouraged and can be negotiated with homeroom teachers. Each of the activities completed, depending on the time and effort required, are worth varying points. The program was introduced last week and will run until the end of Term 3, where students that accumulate a significant number of points will be presented with medallions.

We leave it entirely in the hands of the students and challenge them to be self-directed in their choice to participate and in previous years, the students have proven to be outstanding in their responses. I am looking forward to seeing our Year 7’s make a difference in their community and beyond.
