As part of our College’s sporting program, we had a number of students represent our school at both the Primary and Secondary Inter-school cross-country events held this week. Our students competed very well in their respective races, with a number of students qualifying for the next cross-country event as a result of their performances.

The following students represented the College at the Geelong North ‘Division’ Primary school event last Tuesday, held at Eastern Gardens: George Burr (B05D), Grace McFarland (5R), Fraser Richardson (5B), Harry Morphett (B06D), Maddy Grunberg (B05D), Martin Dean (6R), Angus Fuller (6R), Tom Leszko (6M), Ben Bowers (B06D) and Emily Lawrie (6R). All these students are to be congratulated on their performances on the day against a quality field of runners from across Geelong’s Primary schools. As a result of their performances on the day, Harry, Maddy, Martin, Ben and Emily have now qualified for School Sport Victoria’s ‘Western Metropolitan’ Region Championships to be held on Thursday 21st June. We congratulate all our competitors who represented the College on Tuesday, and wish these five students all the very best for their next event as they attempt to qualify for the State Championships.

On Wednesday our College competed in the Geelong Independent Schools Sport Association (GISSA) Cross-country Championships (Year 7 to 12), where the standard of distance running was very high. We wish to thank all those students who represented the College on the day (122 Team members in total), earning points towards the GISSA XC Shield as a result of their efforts. The College finished a very creditable 2nd to Kardinia IC on the day in the overall Team Shield. However, we were successful in winning both the Junior Girls and the Senior Boys sections of this event. We congratulate and thank our students who competed on the day, and acknowledge those students who finished in the top 3 of their age group: Bethany Dean 1st 14yrs; Phoebe Maloney 1st 15yrs; Flynn Daniel 2nd and Cooper Geall 3rd 15yrs; Archie Hildebrandt 3rd 16yrs.
