Learning to Write - Year 1

This week 1D students were lucky enough to have a 'real life editor' join them for a writing session.  As the students' writing ability has progressed they have discovered a real joy in writing creative stories. With the assistance of parent-helper and editor, Alice Barker, students discussed development of plot, characters and location in their writing.  Alice shared about the editing process, her role in supporting authors and also shared some of the work she has overseen.  The students chose one of the novels Alice shared, 'Tumtum and Nutmeg' to read as our ongoing class story.  We will be tuning into lots of interesting words and increasing our vocabulary as we share this story about two mice who live in a tiny cottage within a run down house in England. Thank you Alice for sharing your knowledge and inspiring us to perhaps become authors, illustrators or editors one day! Year 1S look forward to sharing in the same experiences during Term 3.
