Year 8 Marine Studies - Collaborating, Absorbing & Questioning

Over the past two weeks year 8 Marine Studies students have been busy collaborating in the science lab. Students engaged in exploring the external and internal anatomical structures of two types of marine animals.
A Bony Fish (Flathead) and a Cephalopod (Squid). Here, students identified key features and investigated the functions of these. Students were simply absorbed in the learning around adaptations that aid survival. In addition, students were able to draw from their observational skills to form connections to the type of habitat the flat head and the squid would most likely be found in. From here, many questions were asked, guiding students to be initiators of their own learning through curiosity.
