Year 4 RAAF, Point Cook Visit
Yesterday our Year 4 students spent some time on a bus and enjoyed a visit to the RAAF museum in Point Cook. The purpose of this visit was to put some real world application to what they have been working on in their Integrated Studies unit, ‘May The Force Be With You’. The students viewed a number of different aircrafts and were able to investigate the forces surrounding such impressive machinery that enables it to fly. The volunteers who led our excursion were a wealth of knowledge and shared personal accounts from their service in the RAAF. Our day concluded with the students having the opportunity to watch a heritage aircraft in flight and learn about the process in close-up detail. We were able to see, hear, smell and feel what flying is all about. The pilot of the plane was hooked up to a radio and the audience were able to ask questions and hear about the pilots experiences.
All of the year 4 students and teachers would like to thank the volunteers at the museum for taking the time to show us around. Similarly, we would like to thank all the parent helpers that came with us on this excursion, it is always great to have assistance from parents and we hope they all enjoyed themselves.
