From the Head of Campus

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and prayers throughout what has been a very busy first Semester. It has been wonderful to witness the student growth, development and learning throughout this term. There have been so many highlights and opportunities for our students, new friendships forged and memories created. Hopefully you have an opportunity to read through the latest edition of our InFocus publication (delivered home via your child this week), highlighting the immense breadth of student engagement and learning across Christian College throughout Semester 1.

Next week, our staff will commence a two and a half day retreat. This is intentional time set aside specifically for us to focus on our Christian faith and how we can best serve God through our respective roles throughout the College community. In recent years, we have explored the topics around notions of ‘Teaching Christianly’ and last year examined ‘Our Vocation, Our Calling’. This year, we want to examine who we are as individuals, as a community and, in particular, who our students are in God’s sight. We believe that through having a closer and deeper relationship with God, we are equipped to serve Him in the important roles that He calls us to fulfil.

Semester 2 will see some staffing changes across our Middle School. We welcome Mrs Christie Waight and Mrs Kim McLure back from family leave, returning to part time positions across the ATD and HPE faculties. Mr Graham Barton, will step down from his Year 8 Coordinator position, being replaced by Mrs Renee Garing in an interim appointment, alongside her Year 7 leadership responsibilities for second semester. We anticipate appointing a new Year 8 coordinator for 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the wonderful leadership Mr Barton has offered our Campus and more broadly Christian College over the past 6 years. His ability to come alongside students and their families, maintaining structure and accountability in the difficult years of adolescent behaviour, whilst reflecting Love and Grace within his servant leadership has been remarkable and truly a blessing to many students, parents and staff. Thank you.

Semester 1 Summative Academic Reports are currently being finalised and will be delivered electronically and available for viewing through the Parent Portal, via the ‘Reports’ tab in SEQTA Engage on Thursday 19th July (Week 1 Term 3). I trust you have an enjoyable and refreshing break with your families and we look forward to seeing you when school resumes for students on Tuesday 17th July.

Kindest regards,

Mr Tony Costa

Head of Campus
