Year 3 Swimming Carnival (2 photos)

On Friday 15th June, the Year 3 students participated in the end of term swimming carnival at Middle School. It was pleasing to see so many parents and grandparents attending this event. One of the highlights was the visit by Middle School students who will be competing at the School Sport Australian Championships in July. Madison Cooper and Dylan Logan were great assistants on the day and four Year 3 students had a race against both students at the end of the day.

All students participated with great enthusiasm, earning valuable house points during the novelty events. Flynn were the winning house on 236 points, closely followed by Penman 234 and then Burrows and Taylor on 197.

The Year 2 Aquatic program will begin on Friday 20th July (Term 3, week 1) during your child’s PE class. Aquatic education is an important component of the Christian College Physical Education & Sport program. The students will undertake their aquatic classes at the Middle School Sports & Aquatic Centre.

A weekly lesson will be held each Friday afternoon during Term 2 between the times from 1:45pm – 3:00pm. Children will depart Junior School via bus at approximately 1:25pm and return by 3:20pm. At the conclusion of the term, a Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 14th September. Details of this carnival will be forwarded to you prior to this date.

Each student is required to have appropriate swimming attire, one piece bathers for girls & ‘Speedo’s for boys. Bathers, swim cap and goggles are compulsory. Christian College bathers and swim caps can be purchased from the Uniform Shop. It is not compulsory to wear Christian College items.

Junior Netball (2 photos)

On Tuesday evening, the Christian College netball teams had their break up and were inspired by Australian Diamonds player, Madi Robinson.

Are you in Year 3 or 4 and interested in playing Netball in our College afterschool program?

Games are played on a Monday afternoon at Kardinia Park, with the Geelong Central Netball Association. A new season commences in Term 3. Game times were 4.20p.m. or 5.15 pm, this season however this could vary pending number of teams entered with GCNA.

Training for the Year 3 and 4 players takes place every Wednesday from 3.40pm – 4.30pm in the Middle School Sports & Aquatic Centre.  During this session, players will practice both the technical and tactical aspects of the game, whilst training ‘as a team’.

If your child is interested in playing please contact Flora Murdoch at f.murdoch@ccg.vic.edu.au for registration information.

Year 2 Soccer with Pete Bradley  (1 photo)

Last Tuesday, two Year 2 classes were able to participate and have lots of fun in a soccer session run by Pete Bradley. Students had the opportunity to refine their kicking in skill activities and small games. All the students participated well and benefited from receiving tuition from a highly accredited coach. I would like to thank Pete for this great opportunity and hope to see him again in the future.
