Year 4 - 'Fair Go Mate'
During Week Two, the Year Fours have been discussing what are ‘needs, wants, rights, rules and laws’ as well as exploring our local government and linking these concepts together. As a part of the immersion phase for the ‘Fair Go Mate’ unit, students experienced a variety of activities that related to an aspect that Geelong City Council governs. The activities focused on: animals and the environment, support services for people, innovation and design, and infrastructure. They engaged in activities designed to build empathy and understanding and to also help students to identify with which particular concept they feel passionate about. After this learning experience, the students were able to decide which area they feel connected to which they will now further explore at the Year Four 'Fair Go Mate' excursion next week.
