Our students will explore Japanese food in Term 3.  Already, they have tried to manipulate chopsticks to pick up play dough sushi models of makizushi (roll sushi) and nigiri (sushi rice that has a small cut of fish laying on top).

A good idea for further learning at home is to visit a Japanese restaurant so students can better understand what they experience in class. Hopefully, at the end of the term the students will have a better understanding of Japanese food and the customs associated with eating. Plus, it is hoped that fine motor skills will be enhanced from using chopsticks and making play dough models of food.
