Asian and Oceanian High School Students’ Forum

The Asian and Oceanian High School Students’ Forum is an annual event that takes place in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. It is designed to allow students from different parts of the world to come together, discuss global issues and develop their leadership skills so that they can become more active in an international society.

Australia’s 2018 representative was Christian College’s very own Ethan Young. Ethan gave two presentations at the forum. His first introduced Australia to his international audience and in the other, Ethan spoke about the issue of bullying in the education system and surrounding mental health issues. Ethan presented very well and was an excellent ambassador for both Christian College and Australia.

As well as performing formal duties at the forum, Ethan and the group enjoyed many sightseeing and cultural excursions to local shrines, temples and points of interest. Despite the heat, all of the students have had a wonderful experience and taken away a sense of responsibility that the world is theirs to change for the better.
