Documenting Children's Learning
Learning flows through many experiences, both planned and spontaneous, and through all learning environments at Williams House. We investigate through play and through interactions with our indoor learning spaces, our adventurous playground and, equally, at Bush Kinder.
We observe and honour the learning taking place in many and varied ways such as children’s illustrations, visual representation of ideas and the words of the children recorded by educators. Documentation is an important tool for us to see and connect childrens learning as well as to inform program direction. Documentation is an important tool that leads us to reflect on the learning that is in progress.
For example, our recent incursion with “The Robot Lady” set our learning spaces buzzing with new vocabulary, imaginitive ideas, concepts around directions, movement and so much more. The children reflected on the experience through discussion, drawings and games connected to coding.
