Marine Studies - Year 8 Excursion

If only we could adapt like they can! Marine Invertebrates and Adaptations at MFDC

Our year 8 Marine Scientists capitalised on the opportunity to listen to specialists at the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre and absorbed all that was on offer. Students enhanced their noticing skills by identifying structural, behavioural and physiological adaptations. This allowed them to form links with mystery marine anatomical parts and provide reasons as to why fauna are likely to be found within specific marine ecosystems. Using touch and smell senses, students examined marine invertebrates in a real life replica of an intertidal zone.

They worked towards becoming more resourceful by regularly asking well thought questions which should greatly assist them in their upcoming collaborative research task.
