Bellarine Junior School Japanese Speech Contest

On Wednesday, July 20th, 42 selected students from Year 1 to 4 participated in the annual Bellarine Junior School Japanese Speech Contest . Following Mr. Watson’s fluent opening words in Japanese, the participants in each year level recited the set speech; the topic of Year 1 speech was Sea creatures, Year 2 was their pets, that of Year 3 was what they like to do and the Year 4 students recited the Story of Hungry Caterpillar in Japanese. The contest was a showcase of excellent Japanese language skills. However, what was very impressive was the confidence that each student demonstrated, the level of support students displayed for one another and the growth mindset each student approached the challenge with was exceptional. All participants had been preparing for this event by practising at lunch time and at home, thus their speeches were high quality and the judges had a difficult time selecting prize winners. We would like to congratulate all participants on their great achievements and many thanks go to parents for supporting their child’s preparation for the contest.
